I am a Teaching Fellow in Ancient Philosophy and Latin at Durham. My research explores how authors of the Neronian period use the imagery and language of Epicureanism as part of their narratives and discussions. Specifically, I explore these uses in Lucan, Petronius, and Seneca. My teaching interests include Latin literature, Epicurean philosophy, and Early Greek philosophy, although I also enjoy teaching classes on Aristotelian philosophy. My interest in the project stems from a long-held fascination with the language of illustration and allusion in philosophy and Latin literary texts. I am interested in how we can unpack the language which philosophers and other literary figures use as part of their exegesis.
